“You could do that?” He sounded skeptical then remembered what she had already done. At the time their were Faceless all around and his mind had been on getting someplace safe. He owed her there was no telling how long he would have been stuck like that though he was unsure what that was like. It was all a mad jumble. He rubbed his chin and thought.

“I'll get you to city hall. After we find this Mike character I'd be more than happy going back. From what I remember there are Faceless there … the people he kidnaps to try to strong arm people are taken there and any sacrifices get shipped to the police station.

“If he's still there he's probably hand cuffed in one of the offices, most likely made into a Faceless and either kept there or set free. But if freed he would be around their or return their … though I remember the worms -”

“The Hunters?”

Kurt nodded. “I felt a compulsion to destroy them whenever I came across them.”

She did not know if it were some subconscious thing, the worms representing Yeager who made them what they were. A stab at revenge perhaps?

In any case individual worms could not control them and the Hunters could be used as bait, sort of like fishing in an odd sense if she could gather some of them to attract the attention of the Faceless that had to detect them somehow most likely just by stumbling upon them and chasing them down.

“What do you want to know? If I can recall it well enough I'll tell you.”

"I honestly don't know," She sighed, and gave a weary shrug. "Anything that you can think of that might be useful. Yeager may not be the most stable guy around but he isn't stupid either. Do you know if he laid any traps?"

Kurt considered. “Not that I remember. Most of the Faceless that he kept there were locked up and used when he needed, the important or useful ones. He kept them close since he could grant them back their faces and if he ever needed to swap a hostage for exchange of the sign he was looking for it was easier then searching the entire city for the right one. True he could figure it out by clothes but not everyone manages to keep them pristine given how we get drawn off to check out this sound or that.

“Say what you like about him but Yeager would keep to his agreements within reason.” She would recall the park and seeing Mike though he was a Faceless at the time. Either he was walking the streets now or Yeager was close enough to collect him again.

Kurt did not know since he only got pieces of information while his own identity was being used so he did not know. If he had been in an easy location then he would be there and if not there were still options such as Simon's. What were the Faceless wearing at the park? She didn't get a good look but still …

No traps, it would be just avoiding the Faceless to City Hall wouldn't be as challenging now that it wasn't so foggy and the Hunters were out of action. There was a wild card though, that creature from the amusement park was quick and wasn't a Hunter either. She didn't think that it was controlled directly by Yeager, a fabrication or something that was drawn here she could not say with any certainty. It may or may not have been an issue.

“I can get us a car easy enough. I have Dean's spar keys to his lot ...”

That was a thing she would pick up on straight away. If they were drawn her how was the lot here as well? Did Yeager create something familiar for each person he brought here? Rachel familiar with the school, Dean and his auto lot … what was hers if that was the case, did it even matter? Maybe the studio that she was guided to at the start or it could have been something she had yet to discover. And if so what was Kurt's? Or Simon's?

She considered their options. The car would be a faster and likely safer way of getting around and it could provide her with a easier method of attracting faceless and try her hand at changing them back in mass. She hadn't really thought about doing that until now but someone should try to undo the damage Yeager had done to these people. She somehow didn't think that the Whisper would trouble himself will doing it. "Let's go for the car then and then we'll head to city hall." She agreed.

"Be on your guard though. I can handle any faceless we encounter, I think, but there are still some hunters out here and there is the beast Yeager sent after me. I'm not sure even a car would be a match for that thing."

Kurt nodded and soon they headed out. Things being sunny made it easier. What Faceless they saw they could avoid as they had to get rather close or they had to generate a sizable amount of noise. The Hunters that they did encounter had been harder to see.

Coiled up like snakes or hidden beneath cars they would zip out at them as had been her experience in the past. This time though they were more or less inert. Getting to the used car lot they had selected a a car and made it off the lot.

Kristy discovered that reverting the Faceless back, while she could do it as Kurt was the proof the difficulty remained in getting one far enough away from the others before trying. There was n sense in restoring someone only to have them torn apart by the Faceless assuming that was what they did.

Had she mentioned wishing to try Kurt would attempt to get one to follow and hope she could do her thing. He would drive with the Faceless close behind, the idea being that if it were successful the former Faceless could make a mad dash to the car.

But the timing didn't work out and a familiar roar changed their minds in playing around too much. They got to city hall the creature closing in though there was no telling just how far it had gotten. Inside the old building though she discovered a few Faceless left wandering about or perhaps some of the ones kept on hand managed to get free.

They were easy to sneak past though leaving Kristy to judge by clothing as if any had been Mike.

“This way,” Kurt whispered. Taking the stairs to the third floor she noted that it was getting dark outside as if it were going to rain soon or Yeager had come back around to some degree.

Getting to an office were death certificates were kept she found that the door was unlocked and inside the office among filing cabinets and the like were places for six Faceless to be chained up to the walls. Only two were here though a woman and Mike maybe? Had he been collected again after appearing at the lake? The clothes looked to be the same ...

It had been a near thing escaping the beast this time. She hoped that they could find Mike and fix him before the creature found it's way into the building. She was ready to be done with all this, though she expected that freeing Mike may not be the end of it. The Whisperer had told them to go after him, after all. He may still have designs on them yet.

She couldn't speculate about that just now though. She had to concentrate on the task at hand first. She followed Kurt as he led them through the building to a room where two lone faceless were chained. There was a male and a female. She had an idea of who the woman might be but right now she was just concerned with determining whether the guy was her agent or not. "Mike? Is that you?" She asked tentatively and then turned to Kurt. "Would he be able to recognize me or his own name in this state?"

Both the Faceless reacted lunging towards the noise. The rattle of their chains could be heard as well as the strain of wood as they moved to the maximum length that their restraints allowed. Their limbs twisted and popped almost as if they boneless but had enough definition where they could be restrained. Observing them she would note that they did not seem capable of compressing their limbs despite this fact though how they were held together was another matter.

Their limbs bent at unusual angles though. Elbows bending backwards as well as their knees, ankles twisting nearly all the way around or shoulders popping and rippling. It was as if they were given humanoid shape but something inside them had been fighting to get out.

They could not get at her though. Each moved t the limits of their restraints reaching toward her as if groping for her. Then with no additional noise they settled and stood listening as they rotated their heads as if they had eyes and were scanning the terrain. Kurt was shaking his head in the negative.

Seizing up a memo pad from the desk and searching out a pen he wrote on it.

If he is not here then he's wandering the city. The others in the building must have broken into the building though. I have no recollection of them. You can try your thing on the guy and find out that way though I'll look for the keys to those restraints while you work. Simon can stay here with you.

She nodded her approval of Kurt's plan. She moved more into the room but still far enough from the two chained creatures so that they couldn't reach her. She watched as the writhed and twisted in their chain trying to grab at her. This was going to be tricky. They were too close together. If she focused on just turning Mike back the girl faceless might grab him and start ripping him apart. She could try changing them both back at the same time but it could go very badly if something went wrong.

She walked back to the door where Simon was still waiting and snatched up the memo pad Kurt had used before to write a quick message. "I'm going to work on the male first. Can you lure the female to the other side of the room and keep her distracted while I work. I will fix her once the guy is done."

She waited for and affirmative response and for Simon to start luring the girl while she engaged the other's attention. Once they were far enough away her started concentrating on turning the possible Mike back to a normal human.

Simon seemed a bit distracted. What he was pondering was anyone's guess though as she went about writing her message she saw that he clicked the lock on the door. There had been some hesitation there and the pair of Faceless turned toward the clicking sound and moved to the limits of their restraints.

He nodded when she finished and he read what was there. He moved to the desk silently opening up draws and found a ruler he held onto though he kept looking note satisfied with it. Then he noted the flag hanging in the corner and pointed to it. He needed her to help him up with a boost and worked the flag free. Discarding the ruler this had a little more reach and she saw that he was poking the woman with it, drawing her attention away. It gave him more reach then the ruler and she was able to work on the Faceless that they assumed was Mike.

It was a little harder then when she restored Kurt though not by much. Had Yeager recovered more? Was his hold increasing? Then came a crash from downstairs as if a wrecking ball hit a wall. A roar had been heard, quite familiar. Just as she nearly had the Faceless restored too that hold slipped. It lasted long enough for her to know that this was indeed Mike.

That thing from the park was already here! They could hear running, then screaming, then a more even thudding of foot falls somewhere a floor or two down though it was safe to say that scream belonged to Kurt. They had company ...

"Shit, shit, shit!!" She cursed when she heard the beast crashing through the building a floor or two away. She desperately wanted to go help Kurt but she had finally managed to change the faceless back enough to see that it was indeed Mike. She couldn't abandon him halfway through. She lacked onto the success and concentrated harder, willing it to go faster now. Once she had him changed back completely she whispered to him quickly. "No talking, Mike. I'll explain when we are safe."

That being said she turned her attention to his chains and tried to will them off like she had her own at the police station. She wanted to fix the woman too but there just wasn't time and Kurt was clearly not coming back with the keys right now. She had to free Mike and get him and Simon far away from her until she could lost that damned beast on her trail. If she managed to free Mike before the beast got there she would tell Simon and Mike her plan. "You two get out of here. Simon, take him back to the pizza place and wait for me there. I am going to go save Kurt and get rid of that monster then I'll come find y'all" And send you all home for good this time. She thought. She couldn't keep them safe any longer.

Simon's eyes widened in shock. With what he knew of her abilities removing the restraints wouldn't have been a problem, just time consuming. It could have been that Kurt didn't want to be here any longer then they needed too but he locked the door just in case there was anything to be weary of. Kurt was a Faceless once and transformed back so he should know that restraints shouldn't be a problem but whatever, it didn't hurt to be cautious or a little suspicious in this place.

When he heard the scream he was glad he locked the door though he doubted that it would do much good. It was the thing at the amusement park. He listened and watched the door as Kristy worked.

Se struggled a bit now with Mike though it was her own adrenaline that interfered this time. A bewildered Mike greeted her. Broadway was saying something and fell silent, no time he gathered from Kristy's explanation. She managed to work on the restraints too and all the while they could hear the thing searching for them, or more accurately her.

Simon gazed at her as if he were going to protest. He didn't believe what she was saying. No one believed that Kurt was coming back and it would have been amazing if he were still alive. Whether or not sending someone back before they passed could effectively save them he didn't know and there was a small chance that Kristy would find Kurt with a sliver of life too … unlikely …

But he grabbed Mike by the wrist. “Come on old dude.”

“Old?” Simon lead Mike away … it all seemed out of character for the boy who was big into super heroes and comics but she would be thankful that he did not put up a stink. Closer. It sounded as if the thing was in the room below her own now. It gave another roar as if sensing her and knew she was close. Maybe with a degree of luck it would thing she was in that room and search thoroughly for her. It would give Simon and Mike more time. Maybe it sensed her closeness somehow, she couldn't be sure though she could hear it smashing things down there as it eliminated potential hiding places ...

She was relieved that Simon didn't fight her for a change. She was about to follow them out of the room when she looked back and saw the flag pole Simon had been using to hold off the female faceless. She went back for her, still careful to stay out of the woman's reach. "I'm really sorry, Claire. I'll come back for you if I can." She said to the girl, knowing she couldn't understand her but hoping it would reach the part of her that was still human. She still couldn't be sure that it was really Rachel's daughter but she didn't know of anyone else Yeager might be keeping here.

She raced out of the room, trying to piece together a plan as she made her way to the stairwell. The beast seemed to be on the floor below her, sensing it was near her but not realizing she was above him. She wasn't quite sure if she could use that to her advantage on not but she would try. Maybe she could trap it in the elevator and send it up to the top floor while she checked on Kurt. He likely had not made it but she still was still holding out hope.

She got to the first floor and started making noise. Trying to lead the monster towards you and the lift that was near the stairs she'd come down. It was right next to the reception desk, which was handy if she needed to duck out of sight right away. She hit the call button was she continued shouting for the monster. "I'm over here, Ugly!! You went the wrong way!!" Once the elevator doors opened she propped them open with the flagpole and hit the button for the top floor. There were only three floors but hopefully it would be enough. She then waited outside the open doors for the beast to find her, prepared to dodge behind the desk when it inevitable charged her and trapped itself in the elevator. At least, that's how she hoped it would go down. Otherwise she was royally fucked.

The sound of the thing ended as she left the room she was in. It probably paused, she didn't hear it move when she did so it may not have heard her above. It didn't seem bright given her experiences with it at the amusement park so it was probably not thinking much.

With flag in hand she made it to the first floor. She ran into a minor problem though once she began to yell. She was unable to keep it up for long as the wandering Faceless responded as well coming near, searching for her. A few times they moved near the desk she was hiding behind.

Then a roar again. The Faceless seemed to move toward the new sound and she could hear the creature as it leap down stairs landing hard on the landing. It came closer shrugging off a Faceless then lunged at it then using a tentacle arm like a whip. With ease it snapped the head off of the Faceless then began killing any that drew near.

Closer it came. She could here it slow, it seemed to be sensing her to some degree. She felt close but she already knew if it could sense her it was easily fooled. It probably knew she was somewhere in the room but did not know where.

It decided to check out the open elevator though stopped before entering. Not that the flag deterred it at all, she knew it crashed through things. Rather unlike the Faceless it had an eye and saw that she had not been in the small room and thus it was about to turn away as there was no place inside to hide.

It spent a few seconds looking up at the ceiling of that “room” to rule out that she was somewhere above. It must have seen the locked elevator hatch as it moved in to check it out. It moved straight ahead without a care the flag popping free though the elevator doors closing behind it.

It spun she heard a startled roar, a tentacle even dented that door but it was too late, it was going on up and she didn't have to do a thing but she had not bought herself too much time.

As soon as the lift started up with its infuriated passenger, she come out of her hiding place. She wanted to search for Kurt but she didn't know where he had gone exactly and after seeing what the monster had done with the Faceless it had attacked her hopes for Kurt deflated significantly. Besides, if he was still alive he was better off with her not leading the monster right back to him. She had bought herself some time though. The beast was on the third floor and would hopefully not get back downstairs super fast. She searched the receptionist desk for car keys, figuring Simon and Mike would have taken the one they'd come in if it was still running and she needed to put some distances between her and the monster fast.

Once, she found keys and she was confident she would if she believed it hard enough she would exit the building and start clicking the unlock button on the key fob until she found the car they belong to. She would remain vigilant the entire time for signs that the beast was coming. If he got out of the building too quickly then she was in a lot of trouble. Even if she got into the car by then it wouldn't offer her much protection. She needed to get away from this building and now. She wasn't sure where she should go once she got started though. She didn't want to meet up with the guys until she was certain she had lost the monster so she might have to drive around town for a while before going to the pizza pallor to confuse it.

The one good thing about the creature was that it cleared out all the Faceless on this floor. But it was strong and quick. She realized that she didn't have much time. Her search would have pulled up nothing if not for her ability to manipulate her dreams. In one of the desk draws there had been a key chain with a few keys belonging to the receptionist.

Her edits were seamless, Aegir had not fought against any inclusions she tended to make especially when it did not bother him in the least. He could change things as he willed or allowed them to play out if an angle seemed promising enough.

She got into that parking lot around back, hitting the alarm for the car she got a beep indicating which one. But as she made her way toward it she heard the shattering of glass. A scant few seconds later the thing thudded to the ground unhindered from a three story fall.

It roared again and it was a race. She had a sizable head start to the car and it was slowed coming straight ahead. While she could move between parked cars it could not. The first set it crashed into though it's speed had not moved the cars much as it hardly had the chance to get going.

Then it jumped up to the roof of one jumping from roof to roof. She did get to the car though. But she did not have time to unlock it before a tentacle cracked out against the back of a leg coiling there then jerking her to the ground before moving in, taking it's time now as a second tentacle rolled her over on her back, that single eye seemed to regard her as if ensuring that she was the correct target. Other than that leg though it had not restrained her further as if it had deemed that there was nothing she could do to harm it any way.
